Feels like summer has come early because its definitely maxi dress weather. Whenever its hot and humid, and I don't know what to wear I just throw on a maxi dress. I love the effortlessness of them, while still looking pulled together (I know that sounds like a total contradiction). I pretty much always wear a big wedge underneath mine, otherwise my dress would be dragging the ground. But for those of you that aren't vertically challenged, a flat strappy sandal is great too. The best part of a simple cotton maxi dress is that you can wear it so many ways and accessorize any way you want. I paired mine with this oversized hat I got last summer, and it was less than $20!

Maxi dresses are the perfect summer staple, but its all about the material of the dress. I especially love this printed silk chiffon maxi from Nordstrom, because it is so light-weight and will be perfect for the scorching days ahead. Its definitely one to pack in your suitcase this summer. Also, this dress is great because it comes with a liner and a matching braided belt. And the bright bohemian tribal print is definitely a stand-out.

Chinoiserie

Dress: ASTR Hat: Forever 21 Shoes: Steve Madden

Before I get to my outfit, I have to talk about how fabulous these doors are! I've always admired these chinoiserie style black and gold doors...it makes me want to move right into this building. Everything from doors to the railing, I LOVE! Ok so onto my outfit, I am wearing a neon coral dress that is even brighter in person than in these photos. I used an old rope belt from another dress to cinch in the waist and paired it with my favorite booties that I'm continuing to wear this Spring. And of course everyone should own a straw fedora if you don't already!

Summer Inspiration: Slim Aarons

Slim Aarons is known for, "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places." With summer coming up, I had to feature these glamorous poolside photos. You can easily get lost in his work, daydreaming about the fabulous lives of high society in the 1950s and 1960s.  If your obsessed with coffee table books (like me!), then I definitely recommend owning one by Slim Aarons.
